Lithic Use Wear

Lithic Use Wear

A small percentage of the survey collection lots contained chipped and ground stone artifacts. Within these, the artifacts in association with Bronze Age ceramics were microscopically scanned for evidence of use wear. Images and videos of these use wear patterns are provided through the above tabs.

Notes on Lithic Identification Codes:

The ID indicates the collection lot in the regional survey. If there was more than one lithic artifact in the collection lot, the artifact was given alphabetic designation. The number following the letter indicates the photo number. The description is the location and type of the use wear when the artifact is oriented with the bulb of percussion at the top. The last number indicates the magnification, 80x if it is not specified.

For example, B585 G 3 right dorsal striation, means: Collection lot B585, artifact G, third photograph of artifact G, with striations on the right edge of the dorsal side.
