The data files below provide utilized flake counts described by size, material, and collection context from excavation in 2009.
[Comma delimited UTF-8 format]
[Excel format]
Each line in the ASCII file represents one flake type per collection unit. There are 341 lines, each with 14 variables separated by commas. The variables are listed in the following order:
1 | Structure Number |
2 | Cuadro |
3 | Lot |
4 | Capa |
5 | Nivel |
6 | Type, where BTF = bifacial thinning flake and ETF = edge trimming flake |
7 | Portion |
8 | Material |
9 | Color |
10 | Percent cortex |
11 | Length (cm) |
12 | Width (cm) |
13 | Thickness (cm) |
14 | Notes Note all retouched flakes are unifaces, despite variation in retouch |
The first line of the ASCII text file, for example, looks like this:
Q-176a,10-A,8516,I,1,BTFm,complete,chalcedony,light brown,0,1.2,2.8,0.3,
This means that the flake was recovered from structure Q-176a, cuadro 10-A, lot 8516, capa I, nivel 1. It is a bifacial thinning flake and is considered complete. The flake is comprised of chalcedony, which is light brown in color and contains no cortex. It is 1.2 cm long, 2.8 cm wide, and 0.3 cm thick. There are no additional notes about this flake from the author.
