The data files below provide utilized flake counts described by size, material, modification, and collection context from excavation in 2008.
[Comma delimited UTF-8 format]
[Excel format]
Each line in the CSV file represents one material per collection unit. There are 412 lines, each with 18 variables separated by commas. The variables are listed in the following order:
1 | Structure Number |
2 | Cuadro |
3 | Lote |
4 | Nivel |
5 | Capa |
6 | Utilized Flake, where Y = yes |
7 | Retouched Flake, where Y = yes |
8 | Flake type |
9 | Flake portion |
10 | Material type |
11 | Material color |
12 | Cortex |
13 | Length
Note: NA indicates that the measurement was on a fragment and does not reflect the artifact's original dimension |
14 | Width
Note: NA indicates that the measurement was on a fragment and does not reflect the artifact's original dimension |
15 | Thickness

16 | Patination, where Y = patination and N or blank = no patination |
17 | Fire damage, where Y = visible fire damage and N or blank = no visible fire damage |
18 | Notes |
The first line of the ASCII text file, for example, looks like this:
H-15,9-G,4020,1,I,Y,.,Normal,Proximal,Chert,Beige,0,1.17(NA),1.59,0.14,N,Y,
This means that the flake was excavated from structure H-15, cuadro 9-G, lote 4020, nivel 1, capa I. The flake was utilized but not retouched. It is a normal flake of which the proximal portion was recovered. The flake is comprised of chert and is beige in color with no cortex present. It has a length of 1.17 cm, which was measured from a flake and does not reflect the full object's original dimension. It also has a width of 1.59 cm and a thickness of 0.14 cm. The flake does not have patination and bears fire damage. There are no additional notes from the author about this flake.
