This file contains data from 306 lots where ceramics were found in the excavations (see Chapter 4). Every lot is listed as one line in the file and CERAEXC.TXT has 306 lines in all. Every line has 36 variables separated by commas. The 36 variables are, in the following order:

The first line of the file, for example, looks like this:

That indicates that lot 1 was at Valle de La Plata site VP466 in Corte I. The "0" at the fourth field indicates that it was not an extensive areal excavation and was in fact a 1 by 2 meter test pit. Lot 1 was at level 1 and contained 4 Guacas reddish brown sherds, 8 Lourdes red slipped sherds, 13 Planaditas red burnished, and 2 Tachuelo burnished sherds. Field 12 indicates that there were 27 sherds for the entire lot.
The last (306th) line of the file is:

Lot 356 was at Valle de la Plata site VP467 in Corte XIII. Since Corte XIII was an extensive areal excavation, field four indicates that this lot was located at square M. Lot 356 was at level 5 and contained 5 Planaditas red burnished sherds, and 3 Tachuelo burnished sherds. Field 12 indicates that there were 8 sherds for the entire lot. The Planaditas sherds were lightly burnished jars while the Tachuelo sherds were highly burnished bowls.
