This site was chosen at the end of the field season with the hope of collecting carbon samples associated with Bermejo and Pituro ceramics. In this area a few consecutive survey lots produced these ceramic types either predominantly or exclusively. The site is located on a slope at aproximately 1,980 m above sea level, about 1 km north of the Quijos river and 1.5 km east of the Paradalarca River, within the terrain of the Hacienda Cumandá. The area has been cleared for pasture in the past but the owners want forest to grow again, so the predominant vegetation is composed of brush of medium height and tall grasses. It can be reached by foot, from the main Baeza-Borja road. We excavated two 2x1 m tests here in November of 2002.
