Lower Dover Community Dataset
The data files CHERTDEBITAGE.CSV and CHERTDEBITAGE.XLSX provide information on the appearance, modification, and origin of all chert cores recovered from excavation lots, as well as the percentage of debitage within a lot which was sampled. CHERTDEBITAGE.CSV is a comma delimited ASCII text file; CHERTDEBITAGE.XLSX contains the same data in the form of an Excel spreadsheet.

Each line in the .CSV file represents an individual chert debitage within a lot. There are 4,082 lines, each with 9 variables separated by commas. The variables are listed in the following order:

| 3 | Type of Flake - soft hammer, shatter, pressure, hard hammer, core rejuvenation |
| 4 | Cortex (yes or no) |
| 5 | Material Texture - coarse, medium, fine |

0 - local 1 - non-local |
| 7 | Modification - described when present |
| 8 | Notes |
| 9 | Percentage of Sample - percentage of debitage within a lot which was sampled |
The first line of the .CSV file, for example, looks like this:
SG1-4-9,2.70,core rejuvenation,no,fine,0,none,,20% Sample
This means that the chert debitage was excavated from SG1-4-9. It has a length of 2.70 cm and is a core rejuvenation flake with no cortex present. The material is fine in texture and is of local origin. There are no modifications and no notes included with this record. The percentage of debitage within this lot which was sampled was 20%.
