The data files VESSELS.TXT and VESSELS.XLS provide counts of ceramic material broken down by vessel form. VESSELS.TXT is a comma delimited ASCII text file; VESSELS.XLS contains the same data in the form of an Excel spreadsheet. Each line in the ASCII file represents one survey collection unit (either a surface collection or a shovel test pit). There are 765 lines, each with 10 variables separated by commas. The variables are listed in the following order:
1 | Collection ID |
2 | UTM Northing coordinates |
3 | UTM Easting coordinates |
4 | Collection Type:
superficie = Surface collection pozo = Shovel test pit |
5 | Number of Borders/Bases |
6 | Number of sorted vessels |
7 | Number of unidentified vessels |
8 | Number of pots |
9 | Number of restricted bowls |
10 | Number of open bowls |
The first line of the ASCII text file, for example, looks like this:
1,259073,1005949,superficie,1,1,0,1,0,0
This means that the ceramics belong to collection unit 1, located at UTM coordinates NORTH 259073 and EAST 1005949. This was a surface collection with 1 base, 1 sorted vessel, 0 unidentified vessels, 1 pot, 0 restricted bowls, and 0 open bowls.
