The data files TEXTILES.TXT and TEXTILES.XLS contain details about all textile fragments recovered from excavations at the Pedregal site. TEXTILES.TXT is an ASCII text file, and TEXTILES.XLS contains the same data in the form of an Excel spreadsheet. Each line represents one textile fragment. There are 20 lines in the text file, each with 22 variables separated by commas. The variables are, in the following order:

Description |
The first line of the ASCII text file, for example, looks like this:
349,3,12,0.6,S,Marrón,Cotton/Algodón,1,,,,,,,,,N,N,?,String (from sling?)/Cordel (parte de honda?),Regular,"Fragmento de cordel, tejido tridimensional con decoración en colores, al parecer cocos concentricos."
This indicates that the data pertain to bag 349 Unit 3. The fragment is 12 cm long and 0.6 cm wide. It has an S type torsion, and it is brown (marron). It is made out of cotton, and has a single thread. No information on warp or weft is provided, and it has no selvedge for both weft and warp. It is a string, probably from a sling. The preservation is regular and the description reads: "Fragmento de cordel, tejido tridimensional con decoración en colores, al parecer cocos concentricos."
The last, or 20th, line of the ASCII text file is:
2796,PP12,2.5,1,S,10YR 4/6 dark yellowish brown,Cotton/Algodón,1,2,,,,,,,,N,N,,Yarn ball/Ovillo de hilo,Good/Buena,"Ovillo de hilo de tamaño pequeño y alargado, al interior se observa la presencia de hilo mas oscuro."
This indicates that the data pertain to bag 2796 unit PP12. The fragment is 2.5 cm long and 1 cm wide. It has an S type torsion, and its Munsell color is 10YR 4/6 (dark yellowish brown). It is made out of cotton, and has a single thread. No information on warp or weft is provided, and it has no selvedge for both weft and warp. It is a yarn ball/Ovillo. The preservation is good and the description reads: "Ovillo de hilo de tamaño pequeño y alargado, al interior se observa la presencia de hilo mas oscuro."
