Aspects

A GIS raster layer of aspects created from the DEM also provided here. Like the slope layer, it was created by reducing the resolution of the DEM from cells 10 m by 10 m to cells 100 m by 100 m. Slopes and aspects were calculated from this lower resolution image in order to generalize more broadly. The result was then resampled back to a resolution of cells 10 m by 10 m to match the other layers for analysis. The layer is provided in Idrisi (ASPECT-IDRISI.ZIP) and GeoTIFF (ASPECT-GEOTIFF.ZIP) formats. Cell values are as follows:

• 0=territory outside the survey area
• 1=North-facing slopes (337.5°-22.5° azimuth)
• 2=Northeast-facing slopes (22.5°-67.5° azimuth)
• 3=East-facing slopes (67.5°-112.5° azimuth)
• 4=Southeast-facing slopes (112.5°-157.5° azimuth)
• 5=South-facing slopes (157.5°-202.5° azimuth)
• 6=Southwest-facing slopes (202.5°-247.5° azimuth)
• 7=West-facing slopes (247.5°-292.5° azimuth)
• 8=Northwest-facing slopes (292.5°-337.5° azimuth)
