Cross Tabulation Data

This section provides cross tabulations of the different lithic techonological types by material for the lithic assemblages of each of the 3 deposits. The files are provided either as ASCII text files, or as Excel spreadsheets.

There are 109 lines in the text file representing 109 different technological types into which all obsidian artifacts were sorted. The first two columns on the text file provide the field abreviation and full name of each technological type. Columns 3-6 provide a cross tabulation of each technological type by the different source materials used to make lithic tools. Column three is the quantity of gray obsidian artifacts for each technological type. Columns four and five are the quantities of Pachuca green obsidian and Pizarrín green obsidian respectively, although these columns appear blank for Deposits 1 and 2 because green obsidian was not subdivided into these two categories for those deposits. Column six provides the total green obsidian count for Deposits 1 and 2, but this colum appears blank for Deposit 3 since in that deposit tools were subdivided into Pachuca and Pizarrín. Column seven is the quantity of meca (mahogany) obsidian tools for each technological type, and column eight the quantity of silex (other cryptocrystalline stone) artifacts for each technological type. For more information about the criteria and definition of each technological type or material source type, please refer to the published volume from which this database is derived.
